Meet & Greet with Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthy

Maryland (Raj Gogana) - A meet and greet with the Indian American  Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthy from Eighth District, Illinois, was held at the Potomac residence of Dr. Suresh C. Gupta, M.D. and his wife, Adarsh Gupta on February 12, 2017. Dr. Gupta welcomed Congressman and large number of community members. Mr N.K. Mishra, Minister of CommunityAffairs stated about the  positive interactions with the Congressman and wished him well.  Cong. Raja Krishnamaoorthy was very informal with the large number of attendees. He narrated his political journey as a volunteer in different campaigns who did not hesitate to any work which the campaigns demanded such as putting stamps on envelopes, posting bill boards,making phone calls. He did not hesitate to mention  that he was unsuccessful in his two previous tries as a treasurer for the State and later on as a congressman.He was introduced by Del. Kumar Barve, who served as a majority leader in Maryland legislature who has been an inspiration for younger generation to get involve in politics. Congressman Krishnamoorthy allayed the fear of the Indian Community members about the new administration's  immigration policies. He mentioned the incident that he has to rush to O'Hara airport to secure admission  of 20 legal resident alien who were denied entry. He was optimistic about that there would be health insurance,strong infrastructure, and emphasis on job creation and education. He was forthright in his answers during Q & A session. He encouraged the younger generation to get involved in the political process at  early stage. A good number of community leaders, Atty. Ashok Batra, Vice Chair, NCAIA, Dr. Shaildra Kumr of Indian Forum of Pol.Education, Dr. Renuka Mishra of GOPIO, Mr. Sant Gupta, Dr. Surinder S. Gill, Dr. Saakseria, Mayur Modi and other members of the community were present. Every one present was impressed with the Congressman's knowledge, command of facts and humility. Mr. Anil Gupta presented a vote of thanks. Every one enjoyed hospitality of Dr. Suresh Gupta and Mrs. Adarsh Gupta who promised to host more events at their residence.
